The Round-City Canal

The Round-City Canal in Jiaxing forms part of The Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal’s Yangtze Section. With the beautiful landscapes alongside, it has gained popularity from the visitors at home and abroad, making a hot tourist route. It was recorded in old historical books that during the Sui Dynasty, the Grand Canal was lengthened to Jiaxing city, and the two branches of it flowing on the left and right side of the city. As it has a large green area, with sorts of verdant trees planting at proper intervals and lush grass waving on the ground, it was crowned as "Green Necklace”.

There are such quite a lot of relics remaining as Moon-River Old Residential Area, Luofang Pavilion, Wangwu Floor, Canal Square, Boat Culture Museum, Xueying Pillar, three pagodas, etc. along the route. The Moon-River Old Residential Area, characterized by the twisty road and winding lanes, crisscrossed rivers draped with narrow alleys, old house, tiny waterways, fully unfold the scene of an old water town.
