Xietiao Tower

 

 

 

Xieitiao tower is also called Xie Tiao Tower. It is located in the downtown of Xuancheng. It was built by the famous poet of South Qi Dynasty, Xie Tiao（494 — 496）, served as the administrator of Xuancheng. In the early period of Tang Dynasty, People in Xuancheng built a new building on the old site of Gaozhai to commemorate Xie Tiao, because it was located in the north part of this city, and it was also called North Tower. Before the tower establishment, Jingtingshan Mountain had been famous, and getting up to the tower for landscape appreciation. Lo Po once came here for many times. In 1937, it was collapsed by air bombing, but later reconstructed again. It is ranked one of the four great towers in southern China. The others are Huanghe Tower, Yueyang Tower and Tengwang Pavilion.
