Zhou Yu Tomb

 

Zhou Yu was a rare and all-round general of Wu Kingdom in the period of Three Kingdoms. He acted as the kingdom defense general at a very young age. In Wu Kingdom, he was in charge of all the defense affairs. At that instable time, he kept Wu kingdom in security and development for many years. When his king died, he was ordered to master the Wu-Kingdom military power to resist the outer invasion from Wui Kingdom in north of China. He was a very talented and handsome young general. He was good at the music. There is a saying goes like this: Zhou Yu can distinguish the error from your music playing. He was also expert in writing especially the ancient classical essay. His talent was shown in many aspects. He was deadly attractive and good-looking as well as mostly welcomed by different generations. He fought for all his life with the pursuit enterprise. He was much too ambitious. His wife was also a rare, talented and well-cultivated beauty in ancient China. This couple was perfectly influential and exemplified as the model for many later couples and young people. In 200s, with few soldiers, he well organized a historically famous battle against the strong invasion from Cao Cao, the leader of Wei Kingdom. Since then this battle and Zhou Yu were both recorded into history. But in folklore, he was not considered to be generous, due to the impact of the book titled The Legend of Three Kingdoms. In this novel, he was narrow-minded and finally exasperated to death by Zhuge Liang, who was another legendary and talented Confucian or Taoist, and said to have the super-energy to master the coming and going of wind. In fact, Zhou Yu had the good points of courtesy and politeness.

Nowadays, his tomb is located in the northern part of Lujiang County. It has been long-termed emphasized by local government. In 1989, this tomb was listed to be the third batch of province-level cultural relic protection sites. The tomb garden reconstruction was begun from the winter in 2007. The expenditure was all paid by the monk leader of Jiu Hushan Mountain. The total cost is roughly 2 million or 3 million.
