Tangchi Thermal Spring

 

 

Tangchi Thermal Spring is located in Tangchi Town of Lujiang County in Anhui Province. This spring was time-honored and deeply characterized of the culture and history. In 164 BC, Emperor Wendi of Han Dynasty established Lujiang Kingdom, since then there was the expression of east and west springs. During Song Dynasty, exactly in the ruling time of Emperor Shenzong, Wang Anshi failed in National Reform and was demoted to Shuzhou (the ancient name of Lujiang county), and he was by way of this place and had a thermal spring bath here. He highly spoke of this place with a famous poem.(Wang Anshi, 1021-1086, courtesy name: Jiepu; he was born in Wuzhou of Jiangxi province. He was the famous reformist in ancient China. As the Prime Minister (although his office was not named this, but actually it was equal to it in Song Dynasty, and the real title of his office is called officially Canzhi Zhengshi, in Chinese, 参知政事) of Song Dynasty when it was ruled by Emperor Song Shenzong. Besides, he was also one of Eight Greatest Essayists of Tang and Song Dynasties). In Qing Dynasty, the famous writer of Tongcheng Academy specially wrote an essay for this thermal spring. During the time of Three Kingdoms, Zhou Yu and Xiao Qiao, Zhou Yu’s beautiful wife, had the bath here, and play the guqin(a world intangible heritage in China) for leisure here.
