Guangzhou Baiyun Mountain

Guangzhou Baiyun Mountain (广州白云山) is the first among the Eight New Sightseeing Spots in the Sheep City and National AAAA level scenic area. It is also the famous mountain in southern part of Guangdong Province. The mountain range is big and wide that consists of more than 30 peaks spreading in a 21-square-kilometer area in northeastern Guangzhou. Moxingling (摩星岭) is the main peak that is height about 380 meters above sea level, on the top of which you can command a grand view of Guangzhou city and the Pearl River. Baiyun means White Clouds in Chinese, because the mountain's top will be circled by dense white clouds after rain or early springtime, beautiful scenery indeed.

There were many temples and much old architecture on the mountain, but as time goes by, most of them have been damaged and destroyed. After founding the People's Republic of China, Guangzhou government organized local people to plant trees in large scale, build 10 reservoirs, highways to the scenic area and to refit parks on the mountain. Nowadays, there are biggest gardens in China. Yuntai Garden, the biggest garden in Chinese classical garden style; Mingchun Valley, the largest bird living park in China; and the Sculpture Park, the largest of its kind in the country.
