Fujian Museum

Fujian Museum is the biggest comprehensive museum in Fujian Province. It is located inside the West Lake Park. The museum was set up in April, 1953. It houses about 50,000 items of cultural relics. Among them, there are artworks handed down from ancient times, unearthed cultural relics, and revolutionary materials. The most precious relics are the Gold-bronze Lion Stove dating from the Five Dynasties, the Small Bowl with Coney Hair Designs fired in the famous Jian Kiln in Song Dynasty, the silk clothes unearthed from Huangsheng Tomb of South Song Dynasty, Guanyin Statue made by He Chaozong, a famous craftsman in Ming Dynasty, the calligraphy and paintings of famous artists since Mingand Qing Dynasties, the private letters of Lin Zexu and Yan Fu, and the famous testament letter written by Huanghuagang Martyr: Lin Juemin, etc.

The museum has three series of exhibitions. They are Fujian Ancient Relics Display, Fujian Revolutionary History Display, and Fujian Natural Environment & Resources Display. Fujian Ancient Relics Display presents in front of people the prominent discoveries of Archaeology in Fujian History. They are displayed chronologically. The exhibition area has an area of 1000 sq meters and the total amount of the exhibits reaches 1085. Fujian Revolutionary History Display has an exhibition area of 980 sq meters. It displays more than 700 items, which reveals the heroic revolutionary history starting from 1919 which was created by Fujian citizens. Fujian Natural Environment & Resources Display presents the natural environment and resources of Fujian Province to people in different categories by displaying plentiful specimens of material objects together with descriptive pictures or diagrams. The museum is opened from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. In 4:00 p.m., exterior visitors are not allowed to enter the museum. And on each Monday, it is closed for reorganization.
