Sakura Garden

The Dragon Emperor Pool (龙王塘) means it has fresh water, which nourishes the blossoming beauty of the sakura, or cherry blossom flowers in Dalian city. The big pool is actually a reservoir built by Japanese long before 1949, located in the north of Guanfang Village, Longtang Town, Lvshun Area of Dalian. The grand dam of Dragon Emperor Pool is 33.9 meters high and 326.6 meters long. It divides the beautiful scenery into two parts, the grand, lovely garden and vast, seemingly boundless reservoir.

Not as public generally thinks, the most beautiful sakura flowers are blossoming in April, but in May. Each flower will have double pedals with plump appearance and eye-catching, different tints of colors. Also, the sad and pity beauty of the ending in the blossoming period will make the sakura scenery looks as if you are making a farewell to your lover.

A four-meter-tall magnolia tree is seen in the Dragon Emperor Pool Sakura Garden, the biggest in China, having about 50 years of age. Flowers and leaves on the tree are quite the same to other magnolias, but if you pay more attention to every flower, you may find out that it has at most 18 to 20 pedals. Commonly, there are only 6 pedals for each magnolia flower in northern China. The flowers here are milky white color, with light purple curved lines. Although this sort of tree originated in China, this magnolia was imported from Japan.

The blossoming time for sakura is really brief, it is actually about one or two weeks. Time for enjoy and appreciation is pretty short, quite a pity for such a romantic beauty. So, if you are in Dalian, the Dragon Emperor Pool Sakura Garden is a highly recommended place to see.
