Tianning Buddhist Pagoda

 

 

Tianning Buddhist Pagoda crowned as No.1 Buddhist pagoda in China, is the first jade pagoda with the gold top. The Tianning Buddhist Pagoda has the No.1 sutra stele forest and No.1 underground palace complex in China. It has the NO.1 bell and No.1copper tile with the inscription. The total height of this pagoda is 153.79 meters, and it certainly ranks the first place in the height of pagodas among more than 4000 pagodas in China. Tianning Buddhist Pagoda is located in Tianning Buddhist Temple of Changzhou, Jiangsu province. This pagoda was initially established in 2002 with the total architectural area of 270,000 square meters. From the ground floor to the top bell floor, the whole pagoda is mainly characterized by the Buddhism culture. The exact expression ways are Wood Carving of Dongyang, Lacquer work of Yangzhou, needlework of Changzhou and the stone carving of Huian. It elaborately expresses many doctrines or doxies of Buddhism. The outer shape of pagoda was done following the style of the architectural feature in Tang and Song dynasties.
