White Dagoba Temple in Beijing
White Dagoba
was built in 1271. It is designed and built by craftsman Anniga of Nepal. The body of pagoda was made of brick and stone with the height of 50.8 meters. It is composed of the base, body, and tip.
In 1279, White Dagoba was completely built. There was a large-scale temple covering 160,000 square meters also established centralized by White Dagoba
. In 1368, the temple was burned by fire caused by the lightning. In 1457, it was re-established in Ming Dynasty. However, it only covers 1,3000 square meters. It was renamed Miaoyingsi, and the local people called it White Dagoba Temple.
White Dagoba Temple
is constituted of the gate, bell and drum tower, heaven-king hall, Dajuebao hall, seven-Buddha hall and the yard of pagoda. White Dagoba Temple is the earliest and largest Tibet-style pagoda and the important sign of capital of Yuan dynasty. It is also the historical evidence to show the friendliness and cultural exchange between China and Nepal.
