1.Sections of Great Wall near Beijing City
There are 10 sections introduced here, and among them, Badaling, Mutianyu, Simatai and Juyongguan Pass are sections officially opened to tourists, while Arrow Nock, Huanghuacheng are "Wild Great Wall" which are not officially opened but haunted by tourists who like adventures.
Badaling Mutianyu Juyongguan Pass Arrow Nock Gubeikou Huanghuacheng
Located 29km from Huairou County and 60km from Beijing, Huanghuacheng was built in North Qi Period (550-577). It belongs to the inner stretch of the Great Wall, the west end of Great Wall in Huairou County. The 12.94 km long Huanghuacheng snakes its way along the mountains and descends all the way down to the lake at its foot. Cut by lake into three parts, it is a marvelous scene. Besides, it contains 49 enemy watching towers and a landmark building: a wall with 18 teeth-shaped merlons. Except feast your eyes on this unique wonder, you can stroll around the chestnut Orchard nearby and taste the delicious local specialties in autumn.Qinglong Gorge Water Gate
Built in Ming Dynasty under the supervision of General Qi Jiguang, Water Gate is 40 northwest of downtown Beijing . This V-shaped section of Great Wall is the best preserved part of Badaling, featuring steep and winding course.Jinshan Ridge
Situated among the Mt Yanshan, the intersection part of Miyun County and Luanping County in Hebei Province, 140 km from Beijing, Jinshan Ridge Great Wall starts from Longyukou in the west and ends at Wangjinglou in the east, covering a distance of 10.5km. 67 Enemy Watching towers of various shapes are densely distributed here, among which 24 preserve their original looks. its Based on the giant stones measuring 5-8m, Jingshan Ridge Great Wall is famed for its enticing scenery. it is relatively safe compared to Arrow Nock, and local guides are available to guarantee your safeness. Simatai is the only section which preserves the original outlook of Ming Dynasty. In 1987, it was enlisted into World Heritage Site. Situated in Gubeikou County, 120km from Beijing, the 5.4 km long Simatai features novel design, innovative structure and various forms, which lives up to the name of the highlight part of the Great wall. Luo Zhewen, the famous expert on Great Wall remarked: “Just as the Great Wall tops among the seven world wonder, Simatai is the king of the Great Wall”. Simaitai is famous for its steepness: along the cliff there are 14 enemy watching towers densely distributed, and not far away erects a Heaven Staircase with angle of 85 degree along the 900m high cliff, whose steps just allow one foot. Besides, there is no railing.

| Shanhaiguan Pass | See the Great Wall meets the Sea Shanghaiguan is the place the Great Wall meets the sea. Made up with seven strongholds and enclosed by a wall measuring 4769m in length, 11.6 in height and 10m in thickness, the stately Shanghaiguan overlooks the sea with kingly air. It was thought to be the east end of the Great Wall, till the discovery of Hushan Great Wall which overthrows this saying. The 26km long Shanghaiguan Pass comprises sections of the Great Wall include Old Gragon Head(老龙头), Jiumenkou(九门口), Jiaoshan(角山) and Three Pass(三道关),etc. |
| Dajing Gate | the rising star of the Great Wall+ the Numer One Gate of the Great Wall Located in Zhangjiakou city, Hebie Province, Dajing Gate is the only pass named by a gate. It is one of the Top Four Passes of the Great Wall. Built in 1485 on the basis of the Great Wall of Northern Wei dynasty, it enjoys of history over 500 years . Dajing Gate is 12 m in height, 9 m in width and its base measuring 13 m in width. East to it lies the Xiaojing Gate, south of it sits the Zhangjiakou Stronghold. Dajing Gate is blessed with two enemy watching towers, one Water Gate and one Fire Signal Station of Northern Wei dynasty. The Dajing Gate is under restoration now, the local government strives to shape it into a historical and cultural sites as famous as Pingyao Ancient City and Shanhai Pass. |

3. Main Sections of the Great Wall in Gansu Province
| Jiayaguan Pass | the west end of the Great Wall+the first stop of Silk Road Located in the west end of the Great Wall, Jiayuguan was constructed in 1372. It boasts compete defense system and is the best preserved pass as well as the first stop along Silk Road. Its trapezoidal floor covers an area of over 33500 m2, enfolded by city wall measuring 733m in length and 11.7m in height. The landmark architecture here is 17m high, and you can enjoy the peculiar frontier scenery here. |
